First interview, a bust.
I haven't heard anything since. So, considering it's a small, growing company that needs to fill a lot of positions fast, and I haven't heard anything....
....we're moving on.
I did send a thank you note, but I just don't think they are actually effective. Anyone disagree?
So now I"m dreaming about an air conditioned office working for a stable (ha ha) corporation with lots of promotion opportunities.....

A stable corporation? Does this involve housing horses?
Didn't you leave such a "stable" organization with a lot of potential for "promotion" a few years ago? Like, say...6 or 7 years ago to be more precise? :-D

As it turned out, there are no horses, AND they responded to my kiss-up thank you letter, which, from what I understand, is essential in the job search program.
They will spend another two weeks deciding who they want to hire.
I don't mind, except, yeesh, I hope they don't forget about me by then!
In that case, that "thank you" letter might be the deciding factor. Good luck.

When I hire, I usually have my mind made up before I get any thank-you letters (which I rarely get anyway). So, I have to say that they don't mean much to me. But of course, I'm hiring entry level positions, and I'm lucky if the applicants can write anyway!
When my hubby was hired at that evil company, the thank-you letter was a deciding factor. It was between my hubby and someone else. I wrote a thank-you letter and mailed it to the interviewer (like a good wife), and my hubby was offered the job. To this day, that interviewer still remembers that thank-you letter. It must have been a damn good letter.
Maybe that's what I should do with my life. Write letters for people.
Yeah! I am glad to hear it was not a wash. I write thank you letters after an interview and send it about 3 days after meeting with them. If I really want the job I call on the 3rd day and then send the letter out on the 4th or 5th day. It keeps my name fresh in their mind. I was also brought up to write thank you notes for every. little. freaken. thing. Thanks Mom :-)
