Here's my reading list of books worth reading. I've read a gazillion more, and like a bunch of the gazillion others I've read, but these are my all-time favorite reads.
Modern Fantasy
American Gods -- Neil Gaiman
Magic Street -- Orson Scott Card
Family-epics
Rain of Gold -- Victor Villasenor
Wild Swans, Three Daughters of China -- Jung Chang
The Godfather books -- Mario Puzo
Science Fiction
Canticle for Leibowitz -- Walter Miller
Ender's Game -- Orson Scott Card
Childhood's End - Arthur C. Clarke
Fantasy
Once Upon a Future King -- T.H. White
Mists of Avalon -- Marion Zimmer Bradley
Enchanted -- Orson Scott Card
Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West
Last Light of the Sun -- Guy Gavriel Kay
Romance
Through a Glass Darkly -- Karleen Koen
Memoirs of a Geisha
Enjoyable Zen (I really don't know what to call this category)
Ishmael -- Dainel Quinn
All We Know of Heaven
Two Old Women -- Velma Willis
Tuesdays with Morris
On the Beach -- Shute
I also enjoy pure campy pleasure reads as much as the next person, but those don't fit here.

I think you just put all of this "recommended reading" here to snub my 2 months of reading nothing but Charlaine Harris.
Are you suggesting I should raise my reading standards a little higher?
I see what's going on. You get me hooked on Charlaine Harris and then snub me. Ha!
(p.s. That deleted comment was from me. I wanted to edit my post, but instead it shows that I removed it. Oh well.)
